Use it or lose it! -Make the most of your health funds dental extras

Attention those with Health Funds!

With the festive season fast approaching, we are getting very busy at the Paul Beath Dental practice and we wanted to remind our valued patients about their health fund dental extras.

If you do have extras insurance and you are due for a dental check-up or have any required dental treatments that you haven’t yet utilised, you should book in for an appointment as soon as you can.

Many private health funds in Australia reset their benefits after December 31 and unfortunately, any unused benefits then do not roll over to the next year.

What to expect at your check- up/clean at Paul Beath Dental

At Paul Beath Dental we strongly believe that prevention is better than cure and in achieving and maintaining “teeth for life” which is why our dentists recommend regular dental check- ups.

Our check- up/cleans take between 45 minutes to 1 hour, we don’t rush the process and we take the time you need to get the most out of your consultation.

Check -up:

During your visit we evaluate your teeth and gums, assess for cavities and gum disease and perform an oral cancer screen. We also check your medical history as your overall health and lifestyle can directly impact upon your oral health and vice versa.

We then customise a treatment plan for you providing evidence based and cost-effective options and solutions to suit your needs.

Clean

Your session with our highly experienced and qualified hygienist or oral health therapist includes thorough cleaning, measurement of pockets between gum and teeth and evaluation of any bone loss. This evaluation is critical to enabling us to detect any signs of disease early.

The dental hygienist or oral health therapist will then treat your gums and teeth. This will include removing plaque and calculus from your teeth, polishing your teeth and possibly applying fluoride. Fluoride application has been proven to lower your risk of developing decay.

At Paul Beath Dental we also use a machine called EMS Airflow to clean your teeth. The Airflow uses a mix of water, air and a fine powder to gently and painlessly remove biofilm (plaque) and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth.

Hassle- free health cover claims

If you have private health cover, our HICAPS facility allows you to claim directly to your health fund, making claiming fast and hassle free.

However, we remind you that your policy is an agreement between you and your health fund. Please keep in mind that your insurance benefits may result in less coverage than you anticipated so it important to check with your health care fund before you come for your visit.

Rest assured that the fees we charge are the same whether or not you have private health cover. However, your policy may base its allowances on a fixed fee schedule, which may differ from our fees.

Book your dental check- up now and use what is yours, or you risk losing your benefits for 2018.

Making dental care even easier and comfortable for our patients

We also have convenient free parking available onsite and offer Zip pay as an option. Don’t forget that we are open extended hours (including Saturdays) and now offer sedation dentistry services.
